Meet Our Partner: Batyr

Giving a Voice to the Elephant in the Room

At Ripple Effect Foundation, we are proud to partner with Batyr, an organisation that is making a powerful impact on youth mental health across Australia. Through their innovative programs, Batyr is empowering young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to support their own mental wellbeing and that of their peers.

Creating Meaningful Impact

Batyr is dedicated to preventing mental ill-health before it develops. By working directly with young people in schools and online, they provide education that is rooted in lived experience, helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health. Their approach ensures that young people are equipped with the tools to seek help and support others long before reaching a crisis point.

Why Prevention Matters

Mental health is about more than crisis intervention, it’s about preventing distress before it escalates. Research shows that young people often turn to their friends and peers when struggling with mental health challenges. Batyr’s programs focus on providing education and fostering resilience, ensuring that young people feel heard, understood, and supported in their journey.

Evidence-Based Programs & Advocacy

Batyr is committed to measuring and improving their impact. With rigorous program evaluations and collaborations with academic partners, they ensure that their initiatives remain effective and relevant. Additionally, they are at the forefront of mental health advocacy, contributing to national and global conversations on best practices and policy improvements.

Where Donations Go

Funding for Batyr comes from corporate partnerships, philanthropy, fundraising, and government support. The majority of funds are directed toward delivering life-changing workshops, research projects, and innovations to enhance their programs. By keeping costs low for schools, Batyr ensures their services remain accessible to those who need them most.

Meet Our Partner: Ripple Effect Foundation

Changing the Culture Around Wellbeing

Ripple Effect Foundation operates the Ripple Effect Wave Challenge, driven by the belief that every Australian should have access to a lifestyle that protects their wellbeing. Their mission is to make prioritizing mental health a norm, not a luxury.

Through fundraising and awareness efforts, Ripple Effect Foundation promotes mental health literacy, educates individuals on protective wellbeing activities, reduces stigma, and advocates for systemic change.

Our Story

Ripple Effect Foundation was founded by Casey Macpherson and Adam McMurray, who have decades of experience in mental health. They witnessed the growing need for mental health services, increasing waitlists, and the complexities of navigating the system. Their goal was to create real change before individuals reached a crisis point.

As passionate surfers, Casey and Adam personally experienced the benefits of the ocean on their wellbeing. Recognising how surfing naturally incorporates many protective factors for mental health, they created the Ripple Effect Wave Challenge a fundraising initiative that raises awareness while encouraging a proactive approach to mental wellbeing.
